The part I found by measuring the old rod end and using the Hiem product guide was p/n M34-14M or Aurora part GMM-3M-470.  Hopefully this helps the next guy to come along in need.

I have a rusty rod end bearing on my lower left wing slave strut that I need to replace. I do not have access to my plans, does anyone have a part number for that rod end?

I found it strange that I have only one rusty rod end, but there it is...

Many thanks

Phil

Maybe this will help... I found in the plans where it calls for a RA3-M4-2. I called Aircraft Spruce and they didnt have a cross referece for this rod end. Does anyone have an idea of what the current part number this would be?

Phil,
ran a google search for the number and came up with a couple of different suppliers. one is http://www.soiaviation.com/r-2.html

Also call Freemans just plane hardware in Georgia and ask if they can cross reference the part number. Is there a number on the bearing itself?

Hey Gene,

Thanks for the information.  I dug out my digital caliper and measured the bearing, matched it on the Hiem chart and ordered two of them.  I found the number on the bearing, but it was difficult to decipher due to age and wear.

I solved the tailwheel issue by using the same size springs..
