Back in 1975 Jack Stafford kits did a model of the Acrosport (which is easily modified to the Acrosport II) and I found one new in box. I have been a R/C builder long before building real planes so I plan to do this one right with a matching paint scheme.

Cool, I've got a Sig Skybolt kit I want to build.  Had the kit for a long time  but haven't built a model in 40 years.  My Dad had a Hobby Shop when we were kids and he was an AMA contest director from 1958-63.

Some kid name of Kimball was around the shop from time to time.

Absolutely, I have been flying R/C since first grade (1979) and I have my 1/3 scale Stearman hanging in my hangar to remind me to find time to build models as well, so far this AS model will be the first one I have done in 3 years...  Check the for sale adds at rcuniverse.com there is an airplanes/ collectible and antique section. They turn up rarely but between that and ebay you'll probably find one eventually. Worse case I could probably get the plans copied at a print center.

I built a Sig Skybolt and put a .90 on it.  Went like a scalded cat! I did the four aileron version and it rolled faster than any of my previous models.  It doesn't need a 90 by the way!  Hale Wallace built the model on the Sig box cover.  Sure did a pretty job.

Maybe now that I'm pretty much finished with my Bolt I'll build that Great Planes version with the same paint job.  Gosh I've missed model building.

My Dad designed and built a R/C airplane before  WWII. the radio was built by a college physics prof. who was a ham radio guy.  I have the newspaper clips with the headlines "Boy and Professor Fly Robot Airplane".  I'll try to dig up a picture in the next couple of days.

I was building and flying models in the first grade as well, but it was 1959.  I have some "Cannon" ignition engines still in the box and a mid 1940s Gee Bee kit. Maybe I will start on the Skybolt kit.
