The two bolts that mount the aileron control arm/hinge to the ailerons are loose on my aircraft and unfortunately there is nothing to stop the bolt heads from turning inside the aileron. There is no access to the bolt heads inside and I will have to cut some fabric.
Has anyone else had to cut access into the ailerons? I only need about a 2" hole to access the bolts heads. I would prefer a removable cover instead of re-doing the fabric in case I need access again in the future. Excluding the unnecessarily big 6" inspection hole covers, has anyone made a cover plate? I was thinking of securing a cover plate to the aileron spar with two small wood screws. Is it permissible to screw into the spar? Any other suggestions would be great.
