I have a new build with a stock M14P. I installed a second hand Barrett electronic ignition that the original owner was dissatisfied with.
The timing instructions in the Barrett manual are a bit cryptic. My understanding is the timing light on off signal is to be set to 23 crank advance 15 measured at the prop. When set that way, the engine has all the characteristics of being too far advanced. Tries to kick back when starting and very high CHT.
I am thinking there are 2 possible explanations.
Is the ignition definitely set to 15 advance or is it possibly set to 0 like other electronic ignitions?
Maybe I have a faulty ignition.
Any experience out there?
