This winter has seen the removal of all the fabric from the tail of C-FSOJ, which revealed the inevitable surface corrosion after almost 30 years. So I am thinking of the checkerboard pattern on the rudder, however I have no idea where to start, other than cutting squares, or making a full-size pattern to lay over the surface.

The question I have for the folks whom have done it, is what it the ideal size of the squares, 4 x 4, 5 x 5?

I know it is very subjective depending on what one’s personal preferences are, however I like the patterns that show the first full row (vertically), next to the leading edge, with 8 full squares. I’ll attach a sample photo, to show what I mean.

Any tips to doing this, it certainly doesn’t look difficult, but then again?!

Cheers

Dave
