$ difference between metal and tube/rag ?

Anyone out there know the cost between SCRATCH building a two place all metal and a two place tube and rag ? What got me thinking about this was a post on the YAHOO TailWind forum.

I'm talking about the cost of the material to build... before you add in the engine/prop and instruments.

and... how about the amount of time to build those planes ?... from SCRATCH...
