I'm prepping to hang a mock up engine on my fuselage . I've not seen much discussion on using spools between the mount and firewall for weight and balance as well as engine cowling positioning . With an Ultimate cowling , I'll most likely be using a prop extension (length undetermined) and a medal prop , but prefer a ground adjustable composite . This all happening on a Smith Mini with an O-200 Continental and the shoulder cross bar moved aft 5'' moving my torso aft but my butt pretty much unmoved . Is it acceptable to use aluminum spools at the firewall between the firewall and mount ? I'm not sure yet if I'll be going with an electrical system . I'm thinking that the capability of shifting the engine position with spools and prop spacer would simplify w/b issues down the road . thanx
