I stumbled upon this old Pitts by searching through a list of aircraft that had failed to renew their registration. When I came across an S-1C that was a 15 minute drive from my house, I couldn't resist, I looked up the owner's address and drove straight to his residence unannounced.

The more I found out about the plane, the more curious I became of its history. The owner had mentioned that Curtis Pitts was involved in the build process and was rumored to have built the wings himself (these are the owner's words).

It's a fairly early build date from what I understand about Pitts history, and I'm assuming it's the short fuse, but I never took the measurements during my visit. The builder, Skeeter Royall, built several S1's for the biplane racing class in which he competed.

Anyway, I've included a picture below, I'm hoping someone on here will know more about the plane, builder, or both.
