I covered one of my ailerons last weekend. I used the blanket method attaching at the TE. The fabric is shrunk and has a coat of poly brush.

My question is about dealing with the slots in the leading edge for the hinges. I made my openings about 1.5" wide with the plan of making some neat little covers out of aluminum to cover the slots. Can I just make some fabric gussets and apply them over the slots and then when dry simply cut out the opening? Didn't know if the fabric should be cut, wrapped, and glued to the inside of the LE skin or if adding a gusset now and trimming out both layers of fabric works?
