Does anyone have experience taping their Friese ailerons using either method shown here? I need to replace the tape on mine. It was previously taped on top as shown. Just curious if it makes any difference whether the top or bottom is taped. I assume as long as the gap is sealed it doesn't matter? Taping from the bottom would look better. I was surprised at the difference without the tape...the ailerons were heavier and a good bit less responsive.
I've seen other folks draw diagrams of taping their aileron from the top of the wing cove to the bottom of the aileron or vice versa. That method is specified on the same page from the IAC Tech Tips below for symmetrical ailerons, but not for the Friese, since the Friese ailerons can be taped in this simpler manner that would not work for symmetrical ailerons.
