Three questions about building the Acro Sport aileron hinges:

(1) How much welding is required? The plans seem to indicate that the whole length of the of the tube should be welded to the flat stock. That seems hard to do, and probably unnecessary.

(2) Has anyone used male threaded rod end bearings instead of the riveted kind? Obviously it would require thicker tubing to be able to tap. The Model 12 uses threaded rod ends, so strength must not be an issue. I haven't verified that threaded ones are cheaper, but I suspect they are.

(3) Any hints on how to get the rod ends to come out in the right place vertically, other than sliding the hinge up or down on the spar?

Thanks!

Warren
