Hi All - I'm building a Stampe SV4 and some of the metal parts use materials that are hard to get these days. The elevator and rudder hinges are made from 'Electron' AZ91 which is a Magnesium Alloy. It was used to cast the parts but I plan on CNC machining them.

6061 T6 seems the closest in strength and hardness. But it's about 30% heavier.

Can anyone offer guidance on suitable, substitute materials? Does anyone know if AZ91 is actually available in billets?

Regards,
