    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

So my wife and daughter needed me to leave the house so they could wrap my presents. I think they sensed I needed an excuse to fly. Temps are in the 60's and the winds are calm so I taxi out in the Pitts and ask the controller if it would be okay if I blow some smoke. She gives me an "affirmative"! I blast off and level off about 10 ' agl then flip on the smoke and climb out at 29 degrees - man this little S-1C is fun! I pull around and head south just as a Skyhawk pilot calls the tower on his initial contact and asks if the airplane that just took off was smoking intentionally. The controller confirmed intentional smoking and the pilot complains that the smoke is a hazzard (!) - baaaa humbug! I head south and land at a friend's strip I hadn't visited in 6 months. I'm greeted by the happiest lab mix trio of dogs. He shows me his Great Lakes project and the new engine he just got for his Antonov AN2. I part with a "Merry Christmas" and do a little acro show. I spot another friend's strip and buzz it. To my delight he emerges and waves me in. I set down noting how smooth the strip is. Wes Allen welcomes me in and shows me the inlet he's turning for Jamie Treat's muscle bipe. We have a nice visit and I blast off and head back to GPM. The controller clears me to land and as I roll out she says "Merry Christmas"! What a sweet adventure for 45 minutes of flying!

Merry Christmas Biplane friends! May the new year bring happiness, satisfaction, and joy!
