    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

The Skybolt plans call for 6" of axle sticking out beyond the brake mount plate. I wanted to verify this measurement so I mocked up Cleveland 6.00 X 6 wheels on the axles with 1 7/8" wheel spacers, Cleveland brakes, etc. It looks like the axle should stick out at least 6 1/4 or even 6 1/2" to get proper thread length for the castle axle nuts. Has anyone else found the 6" measurement too short?

cheers,
Jim
