Has anyone bailed out, or know first hand of a bailout due to an emergency or structural failure? I know that Tucker did, but he still had control to climb, think and so on... My contention is that for most of our bipes, a parachute is simply a complicated seat cushion, which can conform to regulations if inspected twice a year. I really can't imagine being able to get out of my Skybolt, nor could I with my Pitts. Add to that winter clothes, and I would think that it would be almost impossible except in the most ideal conditions. (is that an oxymoron?)
I'm not advocating non-compliance, but looking at reality. Its hard enough to get out while parked on the ground when I am expecting to get out, I am highly skeptical that I could in an actual emergency.
Convince me!
