I have started working on my new project, the gear it came with has the weld between the top of the front tube and the cross/bungee tube torn open a bit and the whole assembly is twisted. Is it acceptable to heat and bend it straight and clean and re-weld the tubes? Should I look at this as an excuse/ opportunity to upgrade to a different style of gear? What are the pros and cons? The original gear certainly appears to be quite light, I am interested in keeping this build light.
