    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

Finally, last Sunday my Skybolt was going to take to the air for the first time.
Some of you know I moved to Jacksonville in January and my plane was left in Atlanta, that was/is a long story.

Anyway, the person I had to do the mandatory hours finally took off with plans to take it to a public airport for hangaring and flying.
I was not there during this event. The pilot said that when he got airborne his headphones started to come off and he grabbed them. At this moment he lost control of the aircraft and it nosed in from about 15 foot at full power.
Tearing the landing gear apart and bending the constant speed prop.

I have not seen the airplane myself as I can't get away for at least 3 weeks.
It does look like the bottom longeron is buckled and the bungee truss is broken, Maybe more things are twisted.
I will find out in time.
