C-Gear (Pro's & Cons)

Guys
Looking at a project with a c-gear set-up. I did not see Bungees so I'm assuming it does not use them?? I know very little if anything about the Pitts gear except the Tapered Rod set-up seems to be a desired option?
Any other "Adult Supervision" with regards to a project will be very helpful. Though I've built/restored a couple homebuilts it would be the first biplane.
