Has anyone brought pilot emergency chutes as carry on baggage on commercial flights?

I've read the TSA letter saying it's okay and the USPA hints but I'm wondering how many folks have done it and anything to be careful of?

I'm looking at traveling to pick up an airplane and would much prefer to have it with me.
