Report Recommends Changes to Airman Knowledge Test

The Airman Testing Standards and Training Aviation Rulemaking Committee (ARC) recently released a report that proposes several changes to improve FAA airman knowledge tests. This committee was convened in 2011 at the FAA’s request to provide a forum for the U.S. aviation community to offer its experience and expertise in the elements of aeronautical knowledge and aeronautical experience required for safer operation in today’s National Airspace System (NAS). The FAA is currently reviewing the report to evaluate the appropriate course of action.

To view the full report, including the nine recommendations made by the ARC, go to:
www.faa.gov/aircraft/draft_docs/media/airman_test_arc_final_rpt.pdf .

More information on the ARC’s recommendations will also be available in the upcoming September/October issue of FAA Safety Briefing.
