Any suggestions? Till receintly I have not used the skybolt for any long distance flights. Now, I am thinking of 200 to 300 mile, or longer, "Barnstormer Fantacy" in my open cockpit Skybolt. Compass, Garmin XL250 will be may main method of navigation. The world of instument flight with multiple nav and redundancy is great but pilotage and dead reconing are still a winner in my book and of course the only Skybolt method as long as you can some how use a sectional. I know one person who cut his sectional into strips on a East Coast to Texas flight. My chart clipped to my kneeboard still allows the unsecured end of the chart to levitate while in flight. Irritating to say the least. I am sure some my simply rely on the GPS but I like to see my progress on the sectional. If the GPS quits then where am I, literally. Anyone have a method or knee board that works? Edited by: kpin
