So I have my plane stripped down to install the new B&C oil filter and the duel tachometer is connected right where the oil filter would need to be. I am pretty sure I am not legally required to have 2 tachs and the one in the front is not even accurate and confuses people. The second tach is on the threaded connection right above the oil screen. It is a long tee where the back seat tach is connected in closer to the engine and the tee sticks way out to accommodate the second tach (the silver connection at the bottom of the pic is the tach correct?).
Is there a Lycoming part to replace that tee with a simple 90 deg elbow that only one tach screws into. I am committed to getting this oil filter on because removing that screen every annual is a huge head ache and does not clean the oil as good as a filter. Changing the bottom fuel sump filter is bad enough lol.
