Hi all,
Time to start planning engine mounts, and there seems little in the way of resources these days for scratch building a mount. I’ve cobbled enough drawings together to get an idea on tube sizes and dimensions, but for the 8 mount feet (conical mount) I’ve noticed most plans simply say “steel washer,” anywhere from .090 to .125 thick.
I suppose I could cut these out of 4130 sheet with a hole saw - seems quite tedious though, and the diameter of a hole saw is usually outside diameter (resulting washer would be saw diameter minus blade thickness).
Then again, an AN970 washer is the right dimension… and it’s steel… but no clue if it can be welded to 4130. Or should be.
Figured there’s lots of engine mount fab wisdom here. Apologies if I’ve missed an old thread in searching the site.
