    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

There are several places on my plane where the original kit called for the use of an "Acetate Sheet" to make reinforcements to the fabric. These are used around the strap hinge cutouts, where the aileron bellcrank sticks through the lower wing in a curved arc and where the slave struts come out of the lower wing. There are probably some other places as well, but those are the ones I have found so far.

Aviat has not been able to locate this in their parts bin so far and no one else seems to use it. In the Polyfiber manual, they talk about reinforcing fabric with a second layer of preshrunk fabric which is what I am leaning towards.

Anyone use something other than a second layer to reinforce fabric at openings?
