    Why become a Subscribing Member?

    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

OK, the Haigh thread has spontaneously exploded so time to start anew . .
I am reaching the point of fiberglass fairing construction, lower wing to fuselage, cabanes, wheel pant cuffs, modifications to the lower cowling, etc. What is the best material to use for forms these days ? I have been looking at System Three Sculpwood which is a little on the expensive side for a single use product seeing as it is a 2 part mix.
I just made a carbon panel to access the bottom of the torque tube by using foam and drywall plaster - lot of work for a simple panel. I would like to use something easier plus reuseable if possible. I have thought about modeling clay but not sure it would hold up to the squeegie process getting the excess epoxy out of the glass so, ??
Thank you,
