After 30 years of running a handheld VHF, I finally installed a panel-mount radio. Found a used Microair 760 at Wings and Wheels, soldered up a harness and built a little aluminum sub-panel to angle under the dash so it could join its brother transponder. Test flight yesterday, everything worked great. Any hindsight? Well, next time I would get a Rev N or Q instead of the older Rev M model. That would give me the "monitor" feature of the standby frequency for ground to air critiquing.

Nice Vertex Standard VXA-220 handheld with a helicopter headset plug now looking for a good home.

Here's a shot of the panel now, with the Garmin Aera 550 now doing the nav honors. It's been a long time since I dodged control zones on top using a hiking compass around my neck.
