    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

I'm remaking my floor boards...(yep I'm keeping a full floor. The plane is already tabbed out for it and I really like not being able to drop stuff on the belly...I will weigh them when done just to see what the real weight savings is...my guess is 3-5lbs). My question is really just of opinion, stain or painted? I'm making them from some nice 1/4" Baltic birch so they would stain up ok but they were a light grey paint on the old ones. My only thoughts on stain is it would look new longer but might make the interior feel more cramped because of the darker tone. I'll try to snap some pictures tomorrow when I'm out working on final trimming and drilling them in to match fuselage tabs. So stain or paint?
