It's annual inspection time. Eagle II Flop tube inspection, is to possible to inspect the flop tube for flexibility via the filler using perhaps a hook?

I'm sure many here have done this inspection, is side panel removal and extracting the tube from the tank the only sure way to inspect? With the risk to the aluminium threads if not very careful.

What's the general opinion, change the flop tube after a defined time period regardless (it has been changed on this aircraft about 10 years ago) or inspect?
