Do or would you fly a Skybolt type in short pants?

I feel insecure about it, as my military background says 2 layers for fire. I don't wear 2 layers, just a pair of jeans, no helmet, no gloves etc. while providing some protection - certainly would do much really..... or would it?

Should I get over it and just fly in shorts?
