All, Just something I wanted to share. In the past I have purchased the little steel covers thru Aviat. They are pretty pricey. I thought of something, lighter, thinner, and a whole lot cheaper. I started out using the dome insp covers. Found out not enough dome shape left for positive contact. My wife suggested I use the bottom of Aluim Softdrink/Beer cans. She was right, a perfect dome shape. Took me about 30 minutes to make four. Two for the top and two for the bottom wings. Used 6061 T6 for the tab with a riv plate. Countersunk the dome and came out slick. Light and functional. Total price, about a buck a piece if you include the rivplate. About 1/10 the weight of the all steal ones. Also work well if you have to cut open the leading edge to tighten up the drag/antidrag wires.
