Things are pretty slow here on St. Paul Island today, so I have been doing some research on the SA-100. I used a list from airport-data.com that had N-numbers for 118 "Stolp SA-100 Starduster" aircraft.
I searched each U.S. ACID in the FAA registry. Out of that list 36 are registered, the rest were either de-registered, SA-300's or Canadian registry.
What jumped out was a builder by the name of Frank J. Thrash. He is listed as the manufacturer of 10 SA-100's. One is currently registered, seven have been de-registered and two have been exported. That is a phenomenal record of home building. Interestingly, there is no sequence to the serial numbers of his builds.
Does anyone have any information on this gentleman? Dave Baxter, you probably can fill us in on this fellow.
Thanks.
Steve H
