I've been busily building up hours in my new ship, and had something pointed out to me by my old CFI that I need to resolve.

He expressed concern about the fuel gage I have, which is simply a piece of clear plastic hose running between fittings at the top and bottom of the tank, and noted that with the stick fully forward, it's awfully close to the hose.

That in itself isn't a problem, but let's assume I'm up with a passenger who happens to try to grab the stick, and winds up grabbing the hose as well and ripping it off. That could be the start (or end) of a very bad day.

I've thought of just routing the hose off to the side where I could see it, but that seems a bit of a kludge.

Any suggestions? I'd like to keep it simple.
