    Why become a Subscribing Member?

    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).
    • Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

We’ve got the standard, one each clear plastic extender for the fuel truck nozzle that came with the plane. It has a few black tie wraps with the tails still attached a few inches from one end that I assumed were here to keep the tube from falling in the tank. My partner said they are there to mark how far to insert the tube into the tank. When the fuel backs up the tube, you are full, or pretty close anyway.

Any truth to this and any techniques to successfully use these marks to top the think without the 100LL shower?

thanks,

Bruce
