    • In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.
    • We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction).

so... why couldn't a guy just use the beefy gear leg/pivot as is, add a rear diagonal drag strut to triangulate it and brace against fore/aft stresses and add a second pivot joint further back. you'd have to create a new cluster on the fuse. fair it all in nicely, then just make a J3/acrosport/hatz type suspension system in the center? proven, tough, simple. wouldn't look quite as good, but they don't look bad and do fit the biplane aura. one could shorten the inside of the gear legs and eliminate the donuts so wouldn't gain that much weight. maybe loose a few MPH speedwise?? way cheaper than the Grove gear. probably do it for a few hundred bucks in steel/springs/shocks. thoughts?
