Bought an Acrosport II last fall. It's my first open cockpit biplane and I love it! The problem is the wind noise in the microphone when I am trying to communicate in flight. I have no canopy and like it that way - I'm tall and the old chin on the chest method of flying doesn't appeal to me. I'm a retired professional pilot with a number of headsets I've collected over the years, but haven't found a good solution to the problem. Maybe all of you guys that have been at this for a while can give me some ideas on what to buy that will work best. I have no ANR set, have thought about Morris Morgan's retro fit for a David Clark, but want to get some ideas before I make the plunge and spend the money. I operate at a busy GA airport - uncontrolled - and can hear fine, just have a lot of noise thru the mike. The headset that came with it is an inexpensive one that I've never heard of, and the radio is one of those Sportair radios kind of designed more for gliders. It seems to receive well and transmissions are fine until, obviously, I get airborne. Right now I come back to idle and duck down to limit the noise when I transmit. - ya go with what works, but it's not my first choice of ways to do it. I'd be interested in hearing some suggestions and what works for you guys and gals with more experience in open cockpits.
