I started my skbolt project about 6 years ago and I made a fair amount of progess in the first year or so (fuse/tail feathers welded, ribs built, etc). But it has been on hold through 4 moves and 5 years.

I am ready to get back to it, but I have spent the last 5 years pondering. (uh-oh...)

So I'm thinking about the following:

Radial engine (Jacobs most likely)
Grove gear
Sliding/removable canopy
Delta wing

I have some old delta wing plans that are just awful and I understand the newer ones are better and included in the R mods.

I'm not sure what I will have to modify on my fuse to accomodate the engine/gear

I didn't do a very good job of preserving my fuse (I know.....)

I'm thinking about getting the firebolt plans as well as the R mods and building the fuse over from scratch. That way I can build the mods in the first time. Anyone see any reason not to do this? Either way I will be redoing the fuselage, I'm just thinking that by doing the firebolt, I will have a few inherent advantages. I have not however seen those drawings so I'm not completely sure what all I will gain.

The 'bolt (whatever incarnation it achieves) will see a 33% mix of light to medium acro, cross country and just for fun flying.

Any thoughts, comments, opinions?

Thanks

Pete
