Another thread mentioned trouble with hot starting fuel injected Lycomings, so I thought I would share a technique I've been using. It came to me from an RV pilotwho hadtrouble keeping the tail down with the open throttle/cut-off mixture procedure. He got it from a Mooney group.
When shutting down, set the throttle at 1000 rpm and kill the engine with the mixture. The Mooney guys say to lean it just until it quits, I use idle cut-off. When cranking the next time, leave the mixture inICO and don't touch the throttle (1000 rpm setting). Rich mixture when it catches and throttle as required.
I've had real good luck using this method. It kills the three-handed monkey thrash the other way needs. It seems to work best on short duration hot starts (at the pump, etc.).
