The good news? I installed an SD-8 alternator and it seems to work. The bad news? Now my ASI is an altimeter. I thought maybe I had damaged a line while wiring the SD8. That is still the most likely cause, I suppose, because the ASI worked fine before. I can find nothing amiss with the pitot and static lines. A blocked pitot would cause the ASI needle to move with altitude. I can record the instrument while gently blowing into the tube (snickering welcome) and the needle goes up to 40 mph and very slowly returns to zero. Any suggestions? Can the Pitts pitot tube be unscrewed for inspection?
