I am doing the final prep of all of the aluminum for primer and paint, and got to the largest piece, the lower cowling. I made mine from .032" 3003 H so that I could form it around the lip of the firewall. But, it is not as stiff as the other alum pieces, in part, because I pinch rolled all the others and that makes them hold their shape. The lower cowling was much larger than any pinch roller I had access to.
So, I an wondering if others have ran into this issue and what they have done about it. I was thinking of using a piece of alum angle and forming to match the inside of the lower cowling or using a doubler of 2024 T3 and rivet it to the inside. Any thoughts?
