I have a Maule SFSA 1-4 solid rubber tailwheel on my Acro II. As I have performed zero maintenance on it (other than add grease through the zerk) over the last 12 years, I decided to take it apart and inspect it for wear, then re-grease and go. I think that the bushing may be a little bit worn and I would like to make sure before anything unusual happens.

Unfortunately, I am stuck at the lock ring, which does not wish to move. The ring includes two lock pins, which also have no interest in moving out of the lock ring. Does anyone have any experience in taking one of these devils apart? I have searched far and wide, but can find no maintenance manual. Does the lock ring simply pry off or must the pins be removed, allowing the ring to screw off the shaft?

Once I get it apart, I suspect that I may need a new oilite bearing, but it appears that this could prove a bear to replace without a press. Any experience out there?

Thanks.
