I wondered what MEK substitute was, since it is obviously not MEK.
Found this info and am posting it here as a "handy resource".

The Klean-Strip brand MEK substitute MSDS says that it is 100% Acetic acid, ethyl ester (aka: Ethyl acetate)

The Klean-Strip website says the product is discontinued, but I still see it on the shelves at some of the big-box stores.

In some areas, MPK is the substitute for MEK.
According to Wiki: 2-Pentanone or methyl propyl ketone (MPK) is comparable to MEK, but has a lower solvency and is more expensive.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2-Pentanone#cite_note-1
