In my search for a Skybolt, I've come across some that were highly modified. Just the other day, I received a call from a fellow (A&P, AI) who has a pretty advanced project. It is about a foot shorter on each wing, has Pitts Model 12 aeilorons that are 1 foot longer than skybolt standard. He moved the wing forward 1" and the engine back 1" (to account for the heavy IO540, he said). The engine is really souped up and produces around 315HP on the Dyno. The photos he sent showed a very nice job. Everything is built, engine is mounted. It needs plumbing and cover.

I'm not really looking for a project, but thought I'd start a conversation on modifications. One piece of advice Budd Davisson gave me when I asked him about purchasing a Skybolt was to ensure it was built to plans.

Best regards,

Brad
