I have been thinking new kind of trim tab and i need some opinion for you guys. It may be bad idea, so shear your opinion for me.
How about if i build trim tab for aluminum without any kind of hinge. Just bend that aluminum for trim tab form, leave strip of aluminum extra and rivet that trim tab straight to the elevator. Very light and solid solution.
Zodiac airplanes uses that kind of system in ailerons. They have been stress tested ailerons for normal 15 000 flight hours pulses and their aileron travel is + - 15 degrees.
Trim tab travel is more than 15 degrees, but i think this is not problem when you fly 2000 hours maximum before you need new fabric job.
Is there anybody tried this?
Is this too light of flimsy for our flying (diving) speed?
Is there something like trim tab flutter possible?
How much is normal trim travel degrees on Pitts?
CheersVesa
