One of the options I'm considering for my S-2A when it gets re-covered is to strip the fuselage bare, sandblast and re-paint (rather than just doing some touch-up). A similar option would be to slip in a new style wider fuselage for the original narrow fuselage. I could certainly use the room for my feet when there's a passenger aboard. It my not be a good idea due to the expense and one of the expenses would be in the paperwork involved if I wanted to keep it in the Standard category. At this point it's just a thought I'm exploring.

What are the legal hurdles to make this happen? I assume involving a DER would be necessary but maybe not??
