On the plans the nose rib is drawn with a notch for the cap strip to fit inside it. That works good if I band sawed the ribs out but I'm using a pattern with a router and obviously it comes out round. Is it a good idea to hand cut the notched angle or can I just leave it round on the rib and round the cap strip for mating the two together.
I can see where the angled notch allows the cap strip to "lock" itself in place but i'm gonna steam the cap strips so it won't need any pressure to lock it together. Does that make sense? Am I going about it the right way?
I can't see how it would matter because the gusset does the holding, from what I have learned, and the ability to lock the upper and lower cap strip shouldn't make a difference in strength.....right?
