In my post regarding my Ellison equipped O-320, there were several who responded that flew S1's with O-320's. In my search for my recently purchased plane, I weighed the need for more HP up front for my future needs, but felt O-320 would do 100% of what a rookie like myself would need for some time so ended up with my present Pitts with 150 HP. Budd Davisson says that a 160HP S1C will do more than 95% of the pilots that fly them. Aside from the obvious vertical capibilities the 30 horses add up front, is there anything that I can't do that a 180 HP can do in catagories up to Intermediate. Granted, I'm a long ways off from even thinking of that level of flying. Also, has anyone gone to the the higher compression cylinders on their O-320 to get the additional 10 HP, and how much difference did they notice in the change.
