didn't want to drift any further so starting a new one......regarding GA outlook. fwiw, I've been reading about the demise of GA for 40 plus years and most of it has come true, albeit very slowly. What I find very interesting though is the emergence of the Icon amphib. not a biplane unless you count the seawings but the whole marketing concept is what is intriguing. both AOPA and EAA mags wrote it up last month. My sense is that this thing is being promoted as a SeaDoo with wings. they claim 2500 orders taken and here is the interesting point.....40% of buyers are not pilots. company says they are going to provide flight training for the LSA certificate and won't finalize the sale until the buyer passes the course. I admire the airplane, but I wonder what some of the nonpilot buyers think they are buying and more importantly, how they expect to use it. I can envision one of the first questions from the class....."what is this 'FAA' you keep talking about?" I wish them every success and will be watching with interest as the public starts flying them.
