Before my engine rebuild I would seldom see oil temps over 170F. At cruise settings I would see 170F, and when flying a full-power airshow flight for ten minutes on a 100F day at high density altitudes, the temp would drop to 160F. Since the rebuild I get to 185F on climb-out and have to reduce power. At cruise settings the temp quickly drops to 165F, then almost immediately begins to rise back to 185F over the next five or six minutes, where it then stabilizes. This is very consistent behavior. I am trying to figure out why the temp would drop when the power is reduces, then immediately begin to rise again at the same power setting the brought on the reduction of temperature.

The oil cooler I have is the one provided by Kimball, and has always worked perfectly. It has a thermostat (Vernatherm) and has been flushed recently Any ideas?

Thanks,

Danny
