I'm going to be needing to start painting pieces for various projects soon, but need some guidance on paint chemistry. I need to paint wood, steel and aluminum parts. I haven't figured out what type of paint chemistry is compatible with all three materials. Aluminum and steel is easy, but adding in the wood complicates things. Whatever I select, I need to be able to shoot with as small as an airbrush, all the way to a regular cup gun. Urethane, acrylic's or ???. What ever it is, I need to be able to find a reasonably local supplier that has a spectrometer to match an existing color, that was mixed and applied in 1944, which complicates things a little bit. I can get remote access to the original spec and color chips used, but even allowing for the color shift in my monitor, they are way different.
