I recently acquired a Pitts S1S with the pressure carb. The plane has been sitting for several years and has not been flown consistantly. The seller ferried the plane for the 48 minute flight to my airport and I have been doing some clean up and detail work such as getting the right cushions before I fly. While taxiing the other day I noticed the engine would stumble and sputter with rapid throttle increase. The idle is set at 600 rpm and is very steady. The Mag drop at 1700 is less than 100 and once the throttle is brought up easy, she purrs right along at any given throttle setting. However the stumble or hesitation with rapid throttle application is troubling when rapid throttle response might be needed in the event of go-around. This newbie to the Pitts does not relish the thought of a faltering go-around when it might be prudent to do so. Any ideas??
Cheers,
Hans
